Twelve Days of a Magnolia Tree in Spring

In April, I photographed a Magnolia tree every day from April 9th to April 20 as it transitioned from buds to flowers to leaves.

I’m working on a project where I’ll use this imagery for a “Magnolia Clock,” with each photo being 1/12 of the image and representing one day in this transition. Many aspects of the project are up in the air right now, but I’m thinking through the logistics. I envision it as a circle, and perhaps I’ll actually create a working clock! The upcoming show that has inspired this piece invites artists to consider different interpretations of time.
